The $200 million plan to add significant new development to Birkdale Village has received a critical approval.
The Huntersville Board of Commissioners voted 5-1 on March 18 to approve a rezoning request from an entity led by Jamestown, which owns Birkdale Village. The rezoning request sought permission to develop a 125-room hotel, 150 multifamily units, 26,715 square feet of retail space and a new, seven-story office building at the center.
The approval culminates years of public debate about the future of Birkdale Village and its role in Huntersville's growth.
